Great Plains broke ground in August 2015 for its unique business incubator. The 29,000 square-foot business facility will focus on entrepreneurs who are engaged in light manufacturing, commercial food production or commercial arts. The projected construction time is 12 to 14 months. Great Plains’ Lawton campus is also home to another state-of-the-art facility, the Jim Nisbett Emergency Communications Center. It houses E-911 services for Comanche County, the city of Lawton and Fort Sill as well as training divisions for the city of Lawton Police and Fire departments and GPTC’s Law Enforcement career program. GPTC’s SCORE program (a high school credit recovery program) graduated nearly 100 students in 2015. Since its inception, SCORE has reconnected more than 1,300 students to their diplomas. Great Plains also administers adult basic education for both Comanche and Tillman counties. Great Plains provides Regional Economic Modeling economic forecasts and impact data for projects across its district. OkACTE has recognized Great Plains instructors as its Teacher of the Year recipients for 2014 and 2015. GPTC award winners were Jackie Archer, biomedical instructor, 2015, and Nancy Howell, EMT/Firefighter (postsecondary) instructor, 2014.
